How can I tell if my EGT Thermocouple Probe is Grounded or Ungrounded?

How can I tell if my Exhaust Gas Temperature Thermocouple Probe is Grounded or Ungrounded?

In a grounded EGT probe the wires are connected internally to the outer sheath of the probe.  In an ungrounded EGT probe the wires are isolated from the outer sheath.

Here is a quick way of determining which version you have: Clip one lead of an Ohm Meter to either output wire of the EGT probe.  Touch the other Ohm Meter lead to the outer sheath of the EGT probe. Set the Ohm Meter's range to 200 ohms.  If the reading is less than 100 ohms then it is grounded.  If the reading is more than 100 ohms (the reading may go to infinity) then it is ungrounded.
