The Miniature Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor is specifically designed for use in a wide range of racing & testing applications. Made in the USA from superior materials. The Enclosed Tip sensing junction provides reliable measurements and maximum longevity.

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Probe is capable of surviving heat up to 2300 degrees F (1300 degrees C). The EGT probe will fit most internal combustion engine exhaust systems from approximately .750 inch diameter up to about 4 inch diameter with nominal installation modifications. The EGT probe is 0.090 inch" diameter (2.286 mm). The EGT probe cable lead length is 6 feet (1.8 meters).

The probe cable is over-braided in stainless steel for heavy-duty abrasion resistance. The signal wires are FEP insulated. Designed to deliver high performance, high temperature measurements, reliably and consistently.

These high temperature sensors are the choice for professional racing teams, R&D test labs, and enthusiasts. The EGT probe can be used for many different small engine applications, including Karts, Snowmobiles, Aviation, and Marine Racing.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  0.090" OD probes are not recommended for applications with high Exhaust Gas velocity or mounting pre-turbo (choose a 3/16" OD or 1/4" OD probe). Please confirm with your instrument manufacturer that the instrument is compatible with a Type K thermocouple sensor.

About - The EGT-CM: When Miniaturization Is the Design Requirement

At 0.090" (2.3 mm) diameter, the EGT-CM compact mini probe represents a specialized class of EGT sensor designed for applications where probe size, mass, and exhaust flow intrusion must be minimized beyond what standard 1/8" probes can achieve.

This is not simply a scaled-down version of a larger probe. It is intended for environments such as miniature engines, research engines with small-bore exhaust ports, lightweight racing applications, and laboratory combustion systems where a conventional probe would be too large or intrusive.

Compression Fitting Mounting in a Miniature Format

The EGT-CM uses a 316 stainless steel adjustable compression fitting with 1/8"-27 NPT threads, allowing installation in a standard tapped port while maintaining adjustable insertion depth. 

This approach provides a secure mechanical interface while keeping the probe diameter small enough to minimize disturbance to exhaust flow.

Enclosed Tip and 350-Millisecond Response

The EGT-CM uses an enclosed, ungrounded Type K thermocouple junction, protecting the sensing element from direct exposure to exhaust contaminants. 

Despite the enclosed design, the very small sheath diameter reduces thermal mass around the sensing junction, resulting in a response time of approximately 350 milliseconds (time constant)

Response time is defined as the time required to reach 63.2% of a step temperature change.

This provides a balance between durability and response speed, making the probe suitable for applications requiring dynamic measurement without the reduced lifespan associated with exposed-junction designs.

Application Considerations

The EGT-CM is best suited for moderate exhaust velocity environments where minimal probe intrusion is required. As with all small-diameter probes, it is not recommended for high-velocity pre-turbocharger installations where gas forces can induce bending.

For those environments, a larger diameter probe should be selected.
