This protective enclosure is high quality durable, extruded aluminum housing, painted in a black crinkle finish. The protective enclosure is designed to protect the meter from impacts and provides a suitable way of securely mounting the meter.
The enclosure has the correct cutout for the PMD1XT and PMD2XT meter‘s 1/32 DIN (24 x 48 x 75 mm) to snap in and fit tightly. EGT and power wires exit the back of the enclosure using a conveniently placed outlet. The enclosure is easily modifiable to attach to a surface of your choice.

Why the PMD1XT and PMD2XT Need an Enclosure Option
The PMD1XT and PMD2XT SuperLite pyrometer gauges use a 1/32 DIN panel-mount form factor optimized for dashboard integration. They are compact, lightweight instruments intended to be read from the cockpit.
However, there are installations where panel mounting is not practical or desirable: a race car where the gauge needs to be positioned in the engine bay or on the roll cage for crew visibility, a test bench where the instrument moves between applications, or an aircraft build where the gauge location is still being finalized during development.
In these situations, the protective aluminum box enclosure provides a standalone housing designed to accept the PMD1XT or PMD2XT instrument without modification. It protects the gauge from vibration, minor impact, and debris, and allows mounting to any flat surface using standard fasteners through the enclosure’s attachment points.
The aluminum construction keeps weight low while offering good thermal conductivity, helping dissipate heat in installations where the enclosure may be located near engine components.
Integration with the SuperLite Gauge System
The enclosure is dimensioned specifically for the PMD1XT and PMD2XT form factor, allowing the gauge to be installed securely while maintaining full access to wiring connections.
Thermocouple inputs, power connections, and — on the PMD2XT-A variant — analog output wiring remain accessible from the enclosure, preserving all gauge functionality including temperature display, peak hold, alarm relay, and analog retransmission to a data logger or ECU.
This enclosure is a straightforward accessory for builders who want the SuperLite gauge platform — including features such as configurable thermocouple input, peak recall, and optional 0–5V analog output — in a package that can be surface-mounted anywhere on the vehicle or test structure.
It is compatible with the PMD1XT Pyrometer, PMD1XT Travel Display, and PMD2XT-A Analog Output versions of the gauge.
