MADE IN THE USA

The Bio Diesel Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor is specifically designed for use in Internal Combustion Engines operating on Diesel & Biodiesel or any system using a sulfuric or exhaust systems that are prone to fouling exposed junction EGT probes. This probe has been designed to withstand the rigors of marine and over the road trucking. It will also withstand the rigors of racing, tuning, and testing applications.

Made in the USA from superior materials, designed to withstand highly corrosive saltwater environments and even the most extreme racing conditions. The foul-proof sensing tip is recommended for EGT temperature measurements of sulfuric fuels such as diesel or bio diesel mixtures.

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Probe is capable of surviving extreme vibration and heat up to 2300°F (1300°C). The EGT probe will fit most diesel engine exhaust systems from approximately .750 inch diameter up to about 4 inch diameter with nominal installation modifications. The EGT probe is 0.187" diameter (4.75 mm) with a 90-degree bend to accommodate tight mounting locations. An adjustable (316 Stainless Steel) 1/8" NPT compression fitting adapter is included. The EGT probe cable lead length is 6 feet (1.8 meters).

The probe cable is over-braided in stainless steel for heavy-duty abrasion resistance. The signal wires are FEP insulated. Designed to deliver high performance, high temperature measurements, reliably and consistently in the most extreme operating conditions.

The high temperature sensors of choice for professional racing teams, R&D test labs, and Enthusiasts. The EGT probes can be used for many different applications, including… but not limited to DHRA, Drag Racing, Diesel Sled Pulling, Road Courses, Tow Vehicles and Engine Management.

About - EGT-DP Diesel Probe — 90° Bent, 3/16" Diameter

Commercial and Industrial Duty Exhaust Temperature Sensor

The EGT-DP 90° probe is a Type K thermocouple with an enclosed, ungrounded junction and a 90° bend at the sheath tip, allowing the cable to exit parallel to the exhaust pipe surface rather than perpendicular to it.

It is designed for diesel, biodiesel, CNG, and LNG applications where installation space is limited and long-term durability is required. A 316 stainless steel adjustable compression fitting is included.

Why the 90° Bend Exists

In many diesel and performance applications, exhaust manifolds and piping are located in tight spaces near:

  • Firewalls
  • Frame rails
  • Turbochargers

A straight probe extends outward from the pipe, requiring clearance that may not be available.

The 90° design allows:

  • Standard perpendicular insertion into the exhaust stream
  • Cable exit parallel to the pipe surface

This reduces the installed footprint and enables placement at the optimal measurement location.

Choosing Between 90° and Straight Probes

Feature

90° Bent

4" Straight

Max insertion

1.1"

2.8"

Pipe size

~3/4" to ~2" ID

~3/4" to ~4" ID

Clearance

Low-profile

Requires axial clearance

Best use

Tight engine bays

Large exhaust systems

The 90° design prioritizes installation clearance, while straight probes allow deeper insertion for larger pipes.

Enclosed Ungrounded Junction

The probe uses an enclosed, ungrounded junction .

This design:

  • Prevents direct exposure of the thermocouple junction to exhaust gases
  • Reduces corrosion from sulfur compounds and condensates
  • Improves long-term measurement stability

Ungrounded construction also isolates the sensor electrically, reducing ground loop errors.

Materials and Construction

  • Sheath: Inconel 600
  • Insulation: MgO
  • Cable: Stainless overbraid with Teflon-insulated conductors, 20 AWG
  • Fitting: 316 stainless steel compression fitting

The 3/16" diameter improves mechanical durability and vibration resistance.

Response Time

  • 1200 ms (time constant)

Response time is defined as the time required to reach 63.2% of a step temperature change.

This response speed is appropriate for diesel and industrial applications where temperature changes occur gradually.
