MADE IN THE USA

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor is specifically designed for use in a wide range of applications. Made in the USA from superior materials. The Enclosed Tip sensing junction provides reliable measurements and maximum longevity.

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Probe is capable of surviving extreme vibration and heat up to 2300 degrees F (1300 degrees C). The EGT probe will fit most internal combustion engine exhaust systems from approximately .750 inch diameter up to about 4 inch diameter with nominal installation modifications. The EGT probe is 0.125" diameter (3.175 mm) with a 2.3" (58.42 mm) straight shaft. An adjustable (316 Stainless Steel) 1/8" NPT compression fitting adapter is included. The EGT probe cable lead length is 6 feet (1.8 meters) or 12 feet (3.6 meters).

The probe cable is over-braided in stainless steel for heavy-duty abrasion resistance. The signal wires are FEP insulated. Designed to deliver high performance, high temperature measurements, reliably and consistently.

These high temperature sensors are the choice for professional racing teams, R&D test labs, and enthusiasts. The EGT probes can be used for many different applications, including Karts, Drag Racing, Formula 1, NASCAR, Off Road, Snowmobiles, Aviation, and Marine Racing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 1/8" probes are not recommended for applications with high Exhaust Gas velocity or mounting pre-turbo (choose a 3/16" OD or 1/4" OD probe). Please confirm with your instrument manufacturer that the instrument is compatible with a Type K thermocouple sensor.

The EGT-CP: Compact Geometry, Enclosed Tip, Universal Fuel Compatibility

The EGT-CP compact series occupies a specific position in the probe selection matrix: 1/8" diameter, straight 2.3" shaft, enclosed-tip design, suitable for applications where space is limited and durability across varying exhaust conditions is required.

It is the appropriate choice when three conditions converge — the installation requires a small-diameter probe to fit a tight exhaust port or thin-wall pipe, the fuel type may include diesel or other contaminants that degrade exposed junctions, and the installation geometry requires a straight probe entry rather than a 90-degree configuration.

Why an Enclosed Tip on a 1/8" Probe

The EGT-CP uses an enclosed, ungrounded Type K thermocouple junction, protecting the sensing element from direct exposure to the exhaust stream.

This design trades response speed for durability. The enclosed junction results in a response time of approximately 550 milliseconds (time constant), while preventing contamination from sulfur compounds and particulate matter commonly found in diesel and mixed-fuel exhaust environments.

Response time is defined as the time required to reach 63.2% of a step temperature change.

This makes the probe suitable for use with a wide range of fuel types, including gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, natural gas, and alcohol blends.

Compact Geometry for Tight-Clearance Installations

The 2.3" sheath length is shorter than standard probe designs, making it well suited for installations where available straight-line clearance is limited — such as compact engine bays, turbine housings, header collectors, and industrial process piping.

The included 316 stainless steel 1/8"-27 NPT compression fitting allows adjustable insertion depth during installation. Maximum insertion depth is 1.1 inches, which should be considered when positioning the probe relative to the exhaust flow.

The straight geometry allows installation in coaxial ports or locations where a 90-degree probe would interfere with surrounding components.

Application Considerations

Like all 1/8" diameter probes, the EGT-CP is best suited for moderate exhaust velocity environments. It is not recommended for pre-turbocharger placement in high-boost applications, where exhaust gas velocity can create bending forces that exceed the structural limits of a small-diameter probe.

For those applications, a larger diameter probe should be used.
